Summary
Summary review written by our editors.

The Hoyt SierraTec is one of the best short-draw hunting bows most archers have never heard of. Built from 2003 through 2005 for women and short-draw shooters, it delivers the flagship-grade TEC riser and Cam & 1/2 cam of the full Hoyt line in a lighter, narrower-gripped, 3-pound-8-ounce chassis, with confirmed IBO speeds of 285 fps (XT2000) and 282 fps (XT3000) and a real 30-to-60-pound draw-weight range. What I keep coming back to is the shot: it is quiet, shock-free, and dead in the hand in a way that outlasts many bows built years later, a verdict owners reach independently again and again. Hoyt never left a documented launch price behind, and the SierraTec sells only on the used market today - which, for a bow this capable, makes it a genuine value for a short-draw archer willing to hunt one down and have a custom string built to its archived tune-chart specs. It is an excellent bow for the short-draw hunter who wants a real 60-pound whitetail setup without settling for a capped youth model, and it is particularly strong on the target and 3D range where its quiet, steady hold shines. Buyers who need the very shortest draw lengths should also look at the Mathews Mustang, and those who prize maximum out-of-the-box forgiveness at the Bear Home-Wrecker - but for flagship build quality in a short-draw package, the SierraTec still earns its place. All in all, the Mustang is a good choice for youth and women hunters of all skill levels. The speed gives plenty of energy for hunting and the easy of shooting will make it fun to shoot out on the 3D course. Draw length specific cams hurt the value of this bow since changing cams frequently may begin to add up. Anyone that fits into the draw length range should try the smooth drawing Mustang out before making another purchase. Read full review...

To summarize, the Bear Home Wrecker would be a viable option for the lady archer in 2011. With having attributes like smoothness, light mass weight and a very comfortable 80% let off this could be just the rig for anyone from a beginner to someone not looking to break the bank on a weapon. It has eye catching features like pink graphics and strings that will appeal to many women as well. Read full review...

Pros
  • Quiet, low-vibration, dead-in-hand shot - the Cam & 1/2 cam and bridged TEC riser keep it whisper-quiet, the trait short-draw owners return to most
  • Smooth, forgiving draw with adjustable 65% or 75% let-off that rolls easily for shorter-draw and lighter-poundage shooters
  • Light and compact at 3 lb 8 oz with a reduced grip footprint - genuinely comfortable to hold and carry for smaller-framed archers
  • A real 30-60 lb hunting peak in a short-draw chassis - a legitimate whitetail setup, not a capped youth bow
  • Choice of XT2000 (33-inch, faster) or XT3000 (36-inch, steadier) limbs lets a buyer match axle-to-axle to hunting or target
  • Lightweight
  • Single cam offers easy cam rotation, brace height, and axle-to-axle setup
  • Speed (given the specs)
  • Great shootability
  • Lightweight
  • 80% let off
  • Pink graphics and string that will appeal to the lady archer

Cons
  • Draw length tops out at 28 inches - this is a short-draw specialist by design, so longer-draw adults should confirm their draw fits before buying
  • Two decades discontinued and used-market only - strings and cables need building to spec, but a custom shop can cut them from Hoyt's archived tune-chart lengths, so it is a solvable errand rather than a dead end
  • Cam change is needed to modify draw length
  • Limited draw length and draw weight ranges
  • The grip has very small side plates that might give a cold feel when the temp drops.
