Bear Prowess Compound Bow

The Bear Prowess is a women-specific single-cam Ready-to-Hunt bow that does one thing deliberately well: it fits a shorter-draw shooter out of the box and makes the first seasons easy. At a $399.99 launch MSRP (later $499.99) it packs a complete Trophy Ridge kit, a smooth and forgiving draw, 80-percent let-off, and a quiet shot into a roughly three-pound, 29-inch package that a smaller-framed hunter can actually hold up and carry. It is not a speed bow - the 290 fps IBO rating is a ceiling it never reaches in a real hunting setup, and the 50-pound cap keeps it out of elk-and-long-range territory. What I keep coming back to is that Bear resisted the temptation to sell a cut-down unisex bow with a pink wrap and instead shaped the geometry, the cam window, and the grip around the actual shooter. An excellent choice for the woman, shorter-draw, or new hunter who wants a bow that fits immediately and is easy to shoot well, particularly for whitetail and antelope from a stand or blind. Buyers who want maximum one-bow adjustability should also look at the Diamond Infinite Edge Pro, and those who want carbon and a heavier draw at a premium should look at the Diamond Carbon Knockout... read full review
