It’s the only bow you will ever need to buy

Version: 2004 Mathews LX

Rating:

Pros: I bought this bow in 2004 and it’s now 2025 . I use it for both hunting and 3d matches . The only thing I have replaced are the strings . This bow is built to last and it has . I have no reason to buy a new one .

Cons: There is nothing I don’t like about the bow .

The lx is a great shooting bow . If you find one buy it . Like I said above I bought it new in 2004 that 21 years ago . I shoot it almost every day . About every 5 years I will go to the local Mathew dealer and try out their new bows . The last time I went I took my bow to get new strings put on and the owner said he had never shot a lx before so I let him shoot it while I shot the new Mathew bow he had . I think it was a v3 . After I shot it a few dozen times to get the feel of it I just didn’t like it . It was way to jerky and I had to hold on to it way to tight thinking it was going to fly out of my hand . The owner said that the lx was the smoothest shooting bow he has shot . I would have to agree with him . I can leave my fingers open on the front of the grip and during and after the shot the bow doesn’t move at all . It’s hard to explain how it shoots , you just need to try it yourself . They did something right with this bow . It has plenty of speed but still shoots smooth . I think Mathews now a days are making their bows to shoot faster and smoothness has gone to the wayside . I’ll just stick to the smoother shooting bow . At 66 years old the smoothness really makes a difference in the bones and what muscles I have left .

20 years old and still shoots like new .

I bought this bow new in 2004 . Its now 2024 and it shoots like a new bow. The only thing I have done is change the strings .The limbs have not lost any power at all after 20 years of shooting. This is a very smooth shooting bow even for today's bows . I have never felt the need to buy another bow even after 20 years of shooting it . I have made a point to shoot every newer bow Mathews have made over the years and none of them have compelled me to go out and buy one after I shot it .I use my lx for both 3D matches and hunting .
