1 editor reviewThe Bowtech Pro 38 is a long-riser, single-cam target and field bow built from 2001 to 2003, named for the nearly 38-inch axle-to-axle length it wore at launch and refined down to a true 36.7-inch, 4.05-pound bow with a tall 7 3/8-inch brace by its final 2003 year. Its appeal is not on the chronograph - a 310-318 fps IBO is modest - but in the way it behaves: a very solid back wall, a forgiving hold, and a quiet, near-shock-free release that owners happily shot for years and trusted for everything they asked of it. The PF single cam keeps tuning simple, and the 50/60/70-pound peak weights with 65-80% let-off cover any target or field discipline. BowTech never published a launch MSRP that survives in the manuals, so value today is a used-market question - budget for fresh strings and a shop tune and you have a lot of accurate bow for little money. If I were setting one up now, I would build it as a dedicated spot-and-field rig and let it do the one thing it was born to do. An excellent choice for the target and field archer who prizes a steady hold and a clean shot over speed, and who does not mind shopping used. Buyers who want a wider draw range or a deep parts-and-tuning ecosystem should also look at the Hoyt 38 Pro and the Mathews Conquest 4; buyers who want even more length should look at its own sibling, the Bowtech Pro 40... read full review
