Summary
Summary review written by our editors.

Mathews has been an industry leader for quality and workmanship for a while now, and the Chill R is another example of that. Although there are not many changes from the Chill R in terms of new technology, shooters not interested in the Chill from last year demanded the changes made for 2014. The Chill R's back wall will not be for everyone, but it is a great shooting bow and will be a favorite for many shooters in 2014. The specifications are perfect for a multipurpose bow, and may make the $999 price tag a bit easier for some guys to justify. Like all archery decisions, the final choice will come down to personal preference; The Mathews Chill R deserves a test shot though. Read full review...

The Mathews Chill is smooth from the draw to the release of the arrow. With tons of draw length adjustability based on cam modules, the Chill has the potential to appeal to a lot of shooters in all sizes. A speed bow designed for hunting with a forgiving brace height of 7-inches has tons of appeal in the hunting world. Although the back wall is a little mushy and the $999 price tag may be too much for shooters on a budget, the Chill is a great offering for the high demand of speed bows with great shootability options for hunting and it deserves a test shot.
