Mathews Legacy Review

The bow is easy to shoot and great for hunting. Although there are faster bows, I have never had a deer jump the string with this bow. I will be using mine again this season (2024). I have so much experience with this bow, there are no surprises or changes that need to be made when practicing for an upcoming season.

Everything is pretty much been said here. I love my Matthew's Legacy. I leave it Hang on the wall in my basement most of the year, Just to look at it. I still think the new bows are ugly, too black and modern looking!
When I pull my crossbow up into a tree it feels like a foreign object. A great big high strung heavy for an object!

When I hang my Legacy next to me in the tree, my hand automatically goes to the handle through the rope to the beautiful wooden grip, into a draw and generally through a bucks boiler room every fall.

This bow made me a much better more accurate bow hunter. I started out with a 70 lb Pierson spoiler with an overdraw and it was a monster to draw. This bow has been a dream and it's creator, the Matthews Corp. And Matt McPherson are second to none in quality!

You've heard many times of rifles handed down for generations and lasting for a lifetime, but not many bows!

The Matthew's Legacy, taken care of properly is a lifetime bow at least for me, as witnessed by my last 20 years since I bought it!

I went to my local shop to browse the inventory and get fitted for my first bow. Saw this old legacy hanging on the used rack for $330 and it was already cammed for my draw length so I had it set up. Shot like a dream. The shop got me dialed in at 20 yards with three inch groups. Best first bow ever!

Legacy is a smooth, quiet, bullseye, animal dropping piece of art. Is very forgiving and memorable shooting bow. Has a comfortable feeling and balance while shooting. I bought my bow new in 2002 bare after trying it out at the local Archery Shop. I had been shooting a Bear Whitetail and was receptive to the idea of a new bow. The tight groups and arrows touching had me hooked with no sights or rest in the bullseye. I couldn’t throw my money at him fast enough asking to be set up. I believe being measured and having a bow set up for the shooter is a must. I’ve always been a fan of a single pin sight and set myself up with an HHA early on. This rig has been reliable, accurate, and enjoyable to shoot for 20 years now. I’m evening lucky enough to be gifted another Legacy from my neighbor all set up since he can no longer pull a bow with his back ailments.

I love my Legacy it is smooth, forgiving and ACCURATE! I bought it new in 2005 and have never even thought of replacing it. I shoot it with a Trap Door fall away rest and Trophy Ridge sights. The first time I ever shot it at 20 yards I ruined an arrow. I cannot shoot at the same spot at 20 yards due to busting nocks and ripping fletching. In 2015 I shot through (double lung) a cow elk at 60 yards.

I simply like everything about this bow. It's the kind of bow once you shoot it it sticks to you. Go out and find a legacy if you're looking for the best solo cam matthews ever made.

I have shot this bow for 14 seasons now and thought about upgrading. My archery pro shop owner talked me out of it. Don't trade up if you love what you have and it works for your situation. Out to 40 yards in the deer hunting woods, this bow is as deadly as any bow ever produced period. Like the whisker biscuit arrow rest, the Matthews Legacy is iconic.

I think this was one of the better early bows Mathews made. Very forgiving brace height. The length, weight (a bit on the heavy side) make this a very shootable, very quiet accurate bow. I have hunted in all weather conditions and never had a sqeak, or glitch with any component. Rock solid.

I purchased this brand new in 2002 and shoot the newest Mathews each year. This wins each year.

I thought this year would be the upgrade year with the HTR (revolutionary technology like the Legacy in 02), but after loosing the 1st HTR arrow, the Legacy wins another year. I've killed dozens of deer, wild boar, 3 elk and 2 antelope.

Forgiving bow with longer then average (now days) ATA and brace height.
It's quite.
Two Piece quiver is awesome. The arrow gripper bottom part rides nicely against my pack belt while scrambling terrain in the mountains.
Easy to tune. Cam lean and twisting the cable and string to meet the exact BH and ATA is easy.
I've shoot this bow thousands upon thousands of times. Outside of replacing the string and cable every other year or so I had to replace the white washer disks on the cam once. It has never given me any issues.

older bow, added the dead end string stop and made it ever bette, qda fall away rest an tru glow sites, absolute sweet shoot bow for its age, unless they jus come out with a extremely better bow which I doubt happens will keep shooting it

This will be the 12th archery season that I have been using the Legacy. What a good investment. I have no plans of upgrading untill this one falls apart. Have killed at least a dozen deer with this bow. Still using the original black gold fiber pin sight and quick tune rest. Have tossed around upgrading the sight and rest, but see no reason to being that this rig is still as accurate as it was when new in 2002.

I've literally shot this bow thousands of times, and it still performs like the day I bought it. I will never buy another brand of bow. Mathews 4 life. Legacy 4 life...or until it blows up or I drop it out of my stand.

best smoothest bow i have ever shot and it can even shoot a little distance if i needed to i shoot it every day over 70 times a day it shoots nice smooth quiet and fun never could ask for anything more out of a single cam bow

have been shooting my Legacy for 9 years now and wouldnt trade it for anything on the market today. i use it for 3D and for hunting. was asked the year i bought it what i would think of my pretty high dollar bow 10 years down the road. i dont think my opinion will change in the next fue months. its no longer the shinie new bow on the market but will still shoot side by side whith the best of them.

easy setup for hunting.i have no qualms with my legacy.faster bows are on the market but you sacrifice brace height wich can effect accuracy especially in hunting situations where perfect positioning is not possible.
